Dermoscopy

Dermoscopy (Reflected-Light-Microscopy, Dermoscopy, Epiluminescence Microscopy) is a non-invasive, simple assessment technique that enables the assessment of skin lesions. The lesion is examined through a hand-held microscope called a dermoscope equipped with a special polarizing light and placed in a fluid medium. The trained examiner can diagnose with different algorithms (dermascopic ABCD-rule, Menzies Score, 7-point list) benign, or malign skin cancer reliably.
